In terms of robot-driven tending of plastics injection molding machines (IMMs), standard Flexido cells are a great alternative to conventional automation solutions that use linear manipulators. Our standard robot cells come integrated with 6-axis robots, which not only fulfill their basic function of removing parts from the mold but also perform additional operations such as sprue removal, part shot consistency monitoring, checking for the presence of burrs, spews or flash on injected parts, detection of surface defects, and more. Standard robot cells also come in handy whenever machines are installed onlow-clearance factory floors. In that case, 6-axis robots tend a plastics injection molding machine from the side – with the machine doors open. The interfaces that must first be installed on plastics injection molding machines are Euromap 67 and Euromap 63/Euromap 77.

Flexido standard robot cells with industrial 6-axis robots are also used in processes where, for example, the assembly of the injected part (e.g. after simultaneous injection of 2 separate components) or the subsequent processing of the injected part, such as flash removal or deburring, is carried out in the cell itself. For proper implementation in most of these cases, the integration of 6-axis robots is needed.

Standard robot cells are also widely used for installing inserts into the mold during the overmolding process. For such operations, standard cells can be equipped with modular standard stations such as e.g. infeed vibrating station, sliding pallet system, rotary table system, part position detection system on the infeed conveyor using a so-called Pick&Place vision system.
